After its adoption by 195 countries in December 2015, the COP21 Paris Agreement is now open for signature for one year, until April 21st, 2017. What is next for climate action? How will the implementation and durability of the Paris Agreement be ensured?

With our planet’s ever-growing energy needs and their environmental consequences, the panel discussion organized on Wednesday, April 20th by the American University Washington College of Law, and promoted by PD Washington and the French Socialist Party in DC presented the latest developments in global energy geopolitics and focused on some concrete examples of how national, regional and subnational governments are taking action to transition toward a low carbon world.

Panelists agreed that effective implementation of the Paris agreement requires increased political capital and sustained engagement of the private sector.

PD Washington is committed to monitoring the COP21 implementation and organizing other thematic events with interested partners in DC. For more information, please contact Paolo Farah at paolofarah@yahoo.com.
